Not Dead Yet

Call your senators now to support green jobs, clean energy, and a livable planet!

Despite  reports to the contrary, the Senate climate bill is not dead yet. The 1Sky Campaign, a grassroots coalition,  is organizing three-day phone banking campaign called 72 Hours for Clean American Power, from today to Thursday.

The lack of solid climate legislation in the U.S. severely undermined the COP15 climate talks last December. If we want any future efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change to succeed, we need U.S. legislation.

Our on-campus readers can stop by the SURGE phonebanking table on the 100 level of Frist on Thursday. Otherwise you can just follow the link to a page where you will find your senators’ contact information and a call-in script. This is a quick and easy way to let your elected officials know you care about this pressing issue.

When you’re finished calling, please let us know how your call went in the comments section below.

The chances of this bill passing are up in the air right now, with no clear consensus on how the vote will play out. It’s time to tip the scales in a direction that’s good for the planet and everyone on it.

Just FYI: Lautenberg is (202) 224-3224, and press the right keys so you can talk to a real person (2 I think, you don’t just want to leave a message).
